Paul Deardorff, Ph.D., A.B.P.P. established ForPsych in 2004 and has served as its director until 2019. Prior to that, he developed and managed Hyde Park Psychological Services, the area’s largest provider of mental health services for a period of nearly fifteen years until the practice was acquired by a local hospital.
Dr. Deardorff is a 1976 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and completed a one year psychology internship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has been a faculty member at East Carolina University and Xavier University and also taught at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. Deardorff has served as a vendor to the Division of Disability Determination in both Ohio and Indiana and is on the Disability Evaluation Panel for Workers’ Compensation in the state of Ohio. He has performed psychological evaluations for both prosecuting and defense attorneys in the areas of competency, mitigation, and criminal responsibility. He has testified in both state and federal courts.
Dr. Deardorff is skilled in the assessment of intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning, particularly in determining the impact of these issues on interpersonal and occupational functioning. Dr. Deardorff served as the Director of the Psychology Clinic in the local Juvenile Court for more than twenty years. He serves as an examiner for the American Board of Professional Psychology.
Finally, he is a long-time fan of Xavier University basketball and is resolute in his belief that they will eventually play in the Final Four.
