Guardianship Evaluations
From young to old, there are times when an individual is not capable of making safe or sound decisions. Unfortunately, because of these limitations, these same individuals may also be susceptible to fraud or undue influence. These issues can affect an adolescent on the Autism Spectrum Disorder nearing an 18th birthday to a grandparent with Alzheimer’s Disease. A psychological evaluation is necessary in determining the presence of a developmental or cognitive impairment that would render a person incapable of making reasoned decisions. ForPsych has partnered with Adult Protective Services of Ohio Job and Family Service (OJFS) to provide these evaluations. We also routinely work with parents of children nearing adulthood.
Asylum Evaluations
Individuals seeking asylum in the United States are often required to document one’s exposure to ill treatment, persecution, or torture. The psychological evaluation provides critical documentation of this exposure, as well as the immigrant’s fear of persecution based on political opinion, religion, race, nationality, or membership of a particular social group.
Pre-Adoption Evaluations
A pre-adoption psychological evaluation is important and, at times, mandatory for prospective parents. These evaluations typically include extensive interviews along with the administration of psychological testing. While this process can seem daunting, particularly given the stressful nature of the adoption process, it is less so at ForPsych. Our clinicians understand the relevant legal and psychological constructs. We also appreciate that those constructs must be addressed in a warm and empathic setting. We believe that it is this unique combination that distinguishes us from others.
